Building Blocks for Quality Youth Sports

Team-Up for Youth believes that high-quality sports programs have the powerful potential to help young people build life skills and self-esteem while also enhancing the communities where they live and play.

Academic research has established that young people need specific opportunities and supports to grow into healthy and successful adults. These foundational experiences are the basis of the Building Blocks for Quality Youth Sports, which Team-Up uses to help define program improvement goals and as a compass in our work with the directors, coaches and vounteers who support young people's emotional, social, and physical development.

The Building Blocks were adapted from the Youth Development Framework for Practice by the Community Network for Youth Development in partnership with James B. Connell, Ph.D. and Michelle A. Gambone, Ph.D.
