San Antonio Park, Oakland
On May 27, 2005, Team-Up for Youth coordinated a special event to introduce young girls from the San Antonio neighborhood to summer sports programs. Cooperating agencies in Girls Sports Day included Oakland Parks & Recreation, the East Bay Asian Youth Center and the San Antonio Sports Initiative. Approximately 100 girls, ages 8-10, enjoyed a day of instruction in soccer, basketball, flag football and hip-hop dance. They also received registration materials for low-cost sports programs in their community.
